Brian “Pushead” Schroeder considers his art a “pimple on normal society”. Pushead gained brief fame as the lead singer of his band Septic Death during the 1980s and as the owner of a punk record label Pusmort. Pusmort Records released albums by hardcore punks Negative Gain, Poison Idea and Final Conflict. Those projects aside, Pushead is best known for his artwork, a dark collection of hyper realistic skulls and eyeballs. His style has had a lasting impact on underground illustrators and artists for years now.
Zorlac skateboards and much of the mid-80s Metallica’s artwork can be traced to Pushead's hand. He also wrote and illustrated for Thrasher skateboard magazine during the 80s to much acclaim. The artist is currently still designing (He’s more recently collaborated with Altamont apparel and Nike Skate) with his trademark look.
