Florian Bertmer is a German illustrator that works in the extreme metal and hardcore music scenes creating intricately detailed screen prints. His most common works focus on gruesome dark subjects, the Occult, and include a fascination with the colorful Art Nouveau style. Florian has done artwork for bands and clients like Converge, Napalm Death, LucasFilm, and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (Creating some great movie posters for this client such as “Planet of The Apes” which was available at Mondo Con). His work for the metal/hardcore band Converge includes art for “The Poacher Diaries” and back cover artwork and insert for “Deeper the Wound”.
Bertmer has recently done some fantastic screen prints for “Lord of The Rings’ and “Order of The Seven Serpents” which highlight his detailed and mature line work. Bertmer retains his distinct dark intricate style, which some earlier compared to Pushead but are now taking on a life of their own, even when working with a wide range of clientele and commercial applications. His art embraces the underground world of music while still retaining the skill and approach of a seasoned illustrator.
